Heather Johns, MD
Dr. Heather Johns is an Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon at Spokane ENT. Born and raised in Washington State, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biophysics, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology from Whitman College with Magna Cum Laude distinction and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. During her time at Whitman, Dr. Johns also was the starting point guard for the women's basketball team and helped lead her team to the NCAA Division III National Championship game in the 2013-2014 season.
She attended the University of Washington School of Medicine and participated in the WWAMI program, spending her first half of medical school here in Spokane before completing the remaining years in Western Washington. She was elected as a junior member to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor's society. Dr. Johns then completed her residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. It was at Mayo that Dr. Johns developed skills in managing the breadth of otolaryngological complaints.
Her clinical expertise includes: benign and malignant disorders of the salivary glands, benign and malignant disorders of the parathyroid and thyroid glands, chronic and acute sinusitis, nasal obstruction, septal deviations, benign and malignant lesions of the vocal cords and voicebox, vocal cord paralysis, subglottic stenosis, Zenker's diverticulum, and pediatric diseases of the head and neck. In addition, she has taken a special interest in surgical options to treat obstructive sleep apnea in patients who cannot tolerate CPAP.
Dr. Johns is excited to be back in the PNW and is looking forward to hiking and spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter.
